Personal style, similar to many aspects of life, is ever changing. Once one trend is in, the next one goes out of style. While it’s true that fashion often historically repeats itself, fashion wouldn’t be as authentic if it didn’t contain an element of surprise. That’s why developing your personal style is so important, especially in a world that is constantly on the go.
Having a personal wardrobe isn’t necessarily about owning every trend or having a closet filled with the most sophisticated pieces. Sometimes it’s about getting in touch with your inner self so that you’re more aware of your own style, which differs from person to person. Factors like taste, aesthetic, and individual style preferences all come into play when determining your personal wardrobe.
So, what defines your personal wardrobe the most? What factors do you take into account?
At Wanderobe, we’ve come to realize that taste and aesthetic alone do not determine one’s personal style. We’re also raising the question of where our clothing takes us – more specifically, how travel changes our personal wardrobe.
Define Your Personal Style
Before you add anything new to your closet, take a look at what you already own. What are the pieces that strike you personally, and why? Which fabrics, silhouettes, color schemes, patterns or prints attract you the most? Is it bold color blocking, intricate, romantic dresses, or relaxed streetwear? Or something else entirely?
In the world around you, what types of places do you find yourself gravitating toward? What are your favorite go-to places – a coffee shop, a special spot in the city, a nightclub?
Traveling to our favorite places can give us a stronger understanding of what we desire for our personal wardrobe. Sometimes we may “innately know” what defines our fashion aesthetic, but travel to various places can also give us that sense of inner knowing concerning personal style that we had craved all along.
How Travel Shapes Your Personal Style
It is only natural for us to change over the years. As external circumstances in our lives begin to change, we tend to grow and evolve as people. It is an ongoing form of self-expression that is ever evolving, ever changing, and ever growing – and at Wanderobe, we believe that travel and fashion go hand-in-hand.
How do you make your wardrobe more personal and more stylish? Do you find that fashion easily complements travel, or do you struggle to make this connection in your mind?
